YOKO PWNO FEATURED IN THE MOODS NEW VIDEO!

Ace Mancunian urban/party band The Moods have launched a new single featuring us!

‘Blessings’ is an absolute monster of a track, with Lissa’s voice on the hook it’s match made in d’n’b-pop-heaven!

We’ve played in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester with the Moods, (they’re FANTASTIC live btw!), and we’re really honoured that they wanted to work with us.

Ali shot our video bits in Edinburgh - check out Calum looking like he’s never held a pair of drumsticks in his life!

YOKO REMIX ON B-SIDE OF LATEST PINLIGHT RELEASE

We’re over the moon to have our remix appear as the B-Side to our pal Pinlight’s next release!

Jenny (aka Pinlight) enlisted our Calum’s help with the mixing of her debut album ‘Grow Slow’ last year, and is putting out a radio edit of the title track as a single on Friday (Nov 27th, 2020).

Our remix will be released on the same day via Spotify!

It’s already had one great review from the guys at Alternative Promotions UK.

‘veeeery funky, with a strong J-Pop vibe and some subtle similarities to 2010's big club banger, 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites'.’

Thanks guys! We’ll take that :)

OCTOBER UPDATE

A lot’s been happening in the past few months, so here’s a quick update;

  • Gary Rafferty (banjo) and Helen LeMar (who some of you may have seen playing flute with us last summer) have joined Yoko Pwno. In addition to both having played with on stage and on various recordings we’ve made in the past, they are also part of the Science Ceilidh Band with Lewis. Welcome aboard guys!

  • Our former booking agent Beca has moved to Birmingham and got a proper job! Congratulations Beca, and thanks for all of your hard work over the last two years. We will miss you (and Morrison the cat).

  • Our bookings are now handled by the wonderful Katch Holmes of Offsite Productions. Katch has years of experience running Knockengorroch, and acts as booking agent for some of our favourite acts such as Tinderbox Orchestra, DJ Dolphin Boy and Cera Impala. Katch can be reached at info@offsiteproductions.org.

  • Album number 2 is around the halfway stage at the moment. We had planned to spend October 3rd-17th in Skye putting the final touches to this, but unfortunately the resurgance of Covid-19 and the reimposition of lockdown restrictions have forced us to reschedule to April next year.

  • We’re currently working hard to bring you new music and a podcast. Our facebook and instagram pages are updated regularly, and remain the best place to get your Pwno fix.

Lots of love from us! We hope you’re all well and safe, and we look forward to seeing you all when this is over.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Well, like everyone else, our activities have been curtailed for the time being.

You can still follow us on facebook and instagram (not twitter so much). We’ll have videos, photos and news to share whilst we’re out of action.

Stay home and stay safe people! We will see you all again when this is over <3

ELASTIC PWNO BAND 1 IS GO

We have got some new music to play you!

After finishing 'Artefacts' back in April, we decided not to push on with another album of our own tunes straight away.

Instead, we've decided to work on wee projects with various collaborators under the name 'Elastic Pwno Band' (Plastic Ono Band - geddit?).

The first of these releases has an electronic theme, and is available today from Skye Records.

It featues remixes of tracks from The Honey Farm and The Girobabies, remixes of us by Patrick Walker's User Engine alias, Daniel Henkelpott McGurty (DMG Music), a twisted Yoko Pwno version of a traditional Gaelic song sung by Izzy Flower, and one original track for good measure :)

Skye records members can stream or download it for free* this week - you can sign up and listen at the link here :)

DECEMBER UPDATE/NEW RELEASE INCOMING

We think it’s fair to say that this year has been even more mental - and rewarding - than we imagined it could be. A huge thanks to all of the people who booked us, played with us and came to watch us. You might even be able to catch a glimpse of yourself in Calum’s vlog

Since then, we’ve had a couple of months off before making the journey up to Skye to work on the follow up to Artefacts with Iain from Skye Records.

We’re playing a one-off night with label mates Sketch and DJ Dolphin Boy this Saturday (December 7th) at Stramash in Edinburgh. Entry is free, and we’re on at 1130PM.
